Directions to Rugby Marina

By car: If you are approaching from the Southeast or Northwest via the M6 motorway exit at junction 1.Take the A426 towards Rugby. Go straight across the first four roundabouts passing under a disused railway viaduct.

Then go right around the roundabout and come back towards the viaduct. Consul Road is the first left by the Peugeot garage.

The boatyard entrance is 200 yards on the right.

If you are approaching from the North via the M1 motorway exit junction 20.Take the A427 towards Lutterworth/Rugby.Turn left at the traffic lights onto A426 Rugby for 4 miles.At the junction of the A426 and M6 motorway follow instructions as above.If you are approaching from the South via the A426 you will come through the village of Dunchurch.Take all signs that direct you to the M6 North.

Follow the road towards Rugby town centre (A426) and still keep following all the signs to M6 North. This will eventually bring you to Avon Mill Roundabout.Turn right at this roundabout and travel up the dual carriageway, turning left just past the viaduct onto Consul Road.

(Consul Road is the first left after the viaduct) The boatyard entrance is 200 yards on the right.

By rail: You can either take a taxi to the marina from Rugby train station or walk, although it is 40 minutes.

Things to do from Rugby Marina

Rugby - Visit the School's Close where William Webb Ellis first picked up the ball and the game of Rugby began. Rugby town centre is an ideal place for a relaxed and enjoyable shopping expedition with a wide range of shops and stores on offer also a brilliant selections of places to eat and drink.

Braunston - Where the Grand Union and Oxford Canal meet a perfect place to moor and watch the brightly coloured narrow boats pass by. Walk into the village of Braunston and have lunch and a pint of real ale at one of the village locals. Banbury - Take a tour of the Tooley's Boatyard and view the dry dock, forge and machine workshop to discover what life is like in a busy working Boatyard. Bring the nursery rhyme to life with a visit to Banbury Cross where you can see the famous statue 'View the Fine Lady Upon a White Horse'

Stoke Bruerne - Visit The Canal Museum where you can learn how the engineers plotted the route of the canal and how the Blisworth Tunnel was built. Take a walk along The Grand Union Canal Walk which follows the canal go south to Grafton Regis or north over Blisworth Hill following the old toll road.

Foxton Locks - Moor up and walk along the tow-path which leads you past fields of grazing sheep and cattle. Walk to the to the top of the staircase locks and watch the colourful boats make their halting progress up the flight of locks. Visit the museum and learn how life would be for the canal folk who lived and worked on the narrow boats.
